Kidz Bop Drop It Like It’s Hot, anyone?
Snoop Dogg (who these days splits his time between the obviously simpatico pursuits of NFTs and children’s media) has announced that his YouTube brand Doggyland will be joining Kidz Bop live on tour this summer.
Doggyland is a YouTube animated series consisting of a troupe of colourful animated canines named Bow Wizzle, Woofer, Yap Yap, Chow Wow and Barks A Locks, who sing and rap beats designed to “teach social, emotional and cognitive skills for toddlers.”
While Snoop voices the titular character Bow Wizzle in the YouTube series, the press release doesn’t make it clear whether he will be donning a doggy costume to join the tour in person.
Live children’s entertainment can certainly be a lucrative seam for certain musicians to mine. Last year, Kidz Bop extended its partnership with Live Nation to cover a three year North American tour deal.
Kidz Bop was acquired by music company Concord in 2018, and (as of 2023) was reported to have racked up over 24m album sales — a number comparable to Snoop’s over 30m worldwide.
